Multi-Brand High End Fashion Company Re-strategizes Multi-Phase Data Migration Activities For Long Term Success

After the acquisition of two prominent brands in addition to their currently existing New York-based global footprint, this luxury lifestyle brand sought to capture an untapped growth potential through leveraging a new multi-brand portfolio approach. The new SAP S/4HANA Fashion Solution was the chosen platform to harmonize three separate processes in one globally operating solution. After over a year into the project, there was a need to re-strategize the data migration activities to meet the complexities of the multi-phase, multi-year, and multi-brand implementation.


Mid-project, DMR assumed responsibility for the data migration delivery moving forward, with a scope of 40+ conversion objects across multiple functions including finance, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and merchandising. The challenge was in accurately consolidating data from multiple legacy systems, all maintained by different stakeholders, and understanding the relational impact each object would have on other objects. DMR's strategy met this need by providing an end to end unified and sequenced migration approach through using Informatica ETL tools and Netezza databases. This consisted of a team of conversion experts developing, testing, and loading in congruence to account for the upstream and downstream data implications across all conversion objects and all three brands.


DMR was able to successfully execute the migration into the world’s first end to end SAP S/4HANA Fashion Solution for both finance and supply chain operations for Phase 1 and 2, loading over 8.9 million records with a 99.9% successful load rate across all objects.
